So Evie is sleeping... Do I clear up ? Eat? Put on make up? Do some work? Scroll through Instagram? Buy baby proofing equipment for the house? Do some more exciting online shopping? Have a cup of tea ? - Aargh too much to do and our little one only sleeps for half hours.
This time I’ve decided to do work. Yes I’m in my pyjamas with no make up on feeling really hungry but a mama’s got to do what a mama’s got to do. - oh I wish I had a snack lying around . Must go shopping.
There isn’t enough time in the world to do all the things you need to do as a mama. And also you don’t want to feel like you’re working all day. At the end of the day, you just want to have enjoyed yourself. So I’ve decided to always start the day with the fun stuff. Prioritise fun. Even if you’ve got a whole day of chores planned. Evie, my husband and I always start with a good 10 minutes of playing before we do the whole getting out of bed getting dressed routine (which I totally missed today). That way, the day starts with fun rather than making a bed.
So I thought, why don’t I do that with work too? Do the fun stuff first?
Hooray for prototypes.
I have been making my favourite hat first: a turban for little Evie and me. Also, I made it in my favourite colour. Coral. What do you think? I’m still tweaking the pattern but am loving the comfort of it. It’s so nice to feel like a little team with my little girl.
These turbans are made out of matka silk. It’s still silky soft but feels more like a linen fabric than a slippery silk scarf you might have in mind. That way we are still keeping all the qualities of silk (sustainability, recyclability, great for skin nourishment and preventing hair loss), and it helps with the shaping and placement of the hat.
I can’t wait for you to try it on. It’s like a comfy hug around your head. Come to one of our mum and baby events this spring in East London. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
